U.S. Brig NIAGARA

Scale 1/64
This is a beautiful,
highly detailed, 1/64th scale wooden model kit of the U.S. Brig Niagara from
Model Shipways. The Niagara gained her place in history on September 10,
1813 during the Battle of Lake Erie when Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry
commanding the American fleet, was forced to abandon his flagship, the
Lawrence, where he rowed over to the Niagara to continue the attack. His
victory over the British ensured American control of the Great Lakes during
the War of 1812.
Now you can build a true replica of this historic
vessel that will be over 36" long and over 24" high. This kit is a faithful
representation of the reconstructed Niagara at the maritime museum in Erie,
PA. Model design is based on research and plans for the 1990 reconstruction,
provided by Melbourne Smith of the International Historical Watercraft
Society in Annapolis MD. and features Laser cut basswood pieces for
plank-on-bulkhead construction, individual basswood strips cover the hull,
Britannia metal, brass an hardwood fittings, eighteen cast metal carronades
and two long guns, four diameters of rigging line, over 600 blocks and
deadeyes, six sheets of detailed plans and 40 page illustrated instruction
manual by Ben Lankford that will aid in every aspect of construction and
will make this kit a joy to assemble and display.
