1884 Sternwheel Steamship Chaperon
Scale 1/48th The
steam packet Chaperon was built for trade traffic at Chambersburg, Ohio in
1884. At that time river shipping was inexpensive.
Now you can build a true replica of this historic vessel that will be over
34" long and 12" high, with a 7-1/2" beam. This wonderful 1/48th Scale,
Intermediate Level kit features Single plank-on-bulkhead construction uses
laser cut plywood, basswood and Limewood parts make up the hull,
superstructure, paddlewheel, gangplank and railings. Britannia metal
castings include lifeboat, lanterns, capstan and whistle. Brass parts
include bell, eyebolts, cleats and nails dowels for masts and yards are fine
basswood. Three diameters of beige standing and black running rigging,
deadeyes and four sizes of blocks guarantee a realistic replica, and with
the six sheets of detailed plans and illustrated step-by-step instruction
manual this kit will be a joy to assemble and display. (Display base and
pedestals are not included).
