The RATTLESNAKE

Scale 1/96
This is a beautiful, highly detailed, 1/96th scale wooden model kit of the
American privateer Rattlesnake from Model Shipways. Built in Plymouth,
Massachusetts in 1780 with a length of 89', she sailed with 85 men and
carried twenty 6-pounders, captured over a million dollars worth of British
goods on her first cruise. The British ordered her captured at any cost and
she was seized by the 44-gun H.M.S. Assurance in 1783, sent to England and
taken into the Royal Navy.
Now you can build a true replica of this historic vessel that will be 28'
in length and 18" high. This wonderful kit features plank-on-bulkhead
construction with laser cut basswood components and lead-free Britannia
metal castings, the brass fittings included belaying pins, eyebolts, and
rings, wire and strip material four sizes each of gray running and black
standing rigging, over 100 wooden deadeyes and over 200 blocks, and a
comprehensive 48 page illustrated instruction book that also includes
four sheets of plans, two by George F. Campbell outlining hull details and
rig plan, plus two by Ben Lankford showing plank-on-bulkhead hull
construction all of which can be used to build this fantastic ship from a
bygone era.
